History of Gambling in Pennsylvania

Legal gambling first began in Pennsylvania in the late 1950s when the first horse track was opened. Pennsylvanians could legally wager on horse races the same way they do today. It wasn’t untilthe early 2000s when a bill was passed to allow racetracks to apply for slot licenses.
