90th Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Longchamp, 2 October 2011
won by Danedream (GER)

The 2011 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe was a horse race held at Longchamp on Sunday 2 October 2011.[1] It was the 90th running of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is widely regarded as the best Flat race in the world, with a total prize fund of €5,000,000 and €2,857,000 to the winner. The race is open to horses aged three years or older and is held at Longchamp Racecourse. Second favourite Love has been ruled out of a clash against record-seeking Enable in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday. Love's odds had drifted this week from 6-4 to 4-1 after heavy rain. Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe betting sites allow you the opportunity to wager on one of horse racing’s finest events. Since it is a race held in Paris each year, and therefore might be otherwise out of reach for fans in other parts of the world, this kind of wagering might not be.

Enable's historic Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe quest sinks after heavy ground and lack of pace sees her place sixth in Paris as Sottsass wins. Trainer John Gosden said Enable's future was unclear.

The winner was Danedream, a three-year-old filly trained in Germany by Peter Schiergen. The winning jockey was Andrasch Starke.[2]

Danedream was the second German-trained horse to win the 'Arc'. The only prior victory was that of Star Appeal in 1975.

The winning time of 2m 24.49s set a new record for the event. The previous record of 2m 24.60s was achieved by Peintre Celebre in 1997.

Prix

Unusually for the race, the first three finishers were all fillies.
